1 up clearance hit Armitage then rebounded; keeper air-kicked and the ball rolled into the net 23mins

Got to be 2 points lost really, considering Larkhall lost at home 0-2 to Bishop Sutton.

Re: Odd Down v MERTHYR
One win in seven games, four points from last three league matches. Eleven points from six matches this season.
Eight goals from last eight league and Cup fixtures.
Merthyr seem to be finding it hard to score. Also obviously missing Matthew Harris and Tareq Khalil.
It seems that we need somebody tall and strong in the middle, a real ball-winner, someone like Chris Holloway when he was with us! And a regular scorer is needed.
And we are a very short side and yet in some games still boot the ball high in the air rather than play on the ground.
Other than the first game and the clash with Caerau in the Welsh Cup, Merthyr have not scored more than two goals.
I think we can see how much harder it is than last season. The Premier Division teams are much more organised and have more experienced players than those of Div 1.
And next game is Bishop Sutton away on Saturday!

OWN GOAL ----- At least steino would have scored a few for us even if he was overweight and short just because he had the experience

Re: Odd Down v MERTHYR
Nice club, nice ground but awful pitch. It was narrow and very bumpy and was the direct cause of our first goal. An attempted clearance bounced off Scotty towards the goal and for some reason the goalie decided to kick it out only for it to bobble over his foot and rolled gently into the goal. He's been a noisy sod up until then but that did quieten him down. To be honest we created very little in the 1st half but we did look comfortable.
We started the second half well causing problems in the penalty area but Odd Down defended not well but got everything and everyone in the way to keep the ball out. They had a rare attack and equalised from a penalty which was poorly taken but Joe went to his left and the ball seemed to be scuffed straight down the middle. We came back at them but didn't create much. Prosser came on for Laurie Marsh so we went 4-2-4 and conceded a poor goal when we allowed one of their players to run along the goal line and crossed. Joe pushed out the first effort and almost got to the second but it went past him at the back post. Leahy replaced Sheppy and we started to batter them. Prosser hit the bar with a good header and then Stevie crossed a low ball into the 6 yard box and it was diverted into the net by one of the Odd Down defenders. We had further chances - Prosser rounding the keeper but it was stopped on the line and a few shots were blocked. Stevie also seemed to be pushed in the area but nothing was given by the referee who was poor - admittedly to both sides.
Currently we lack a creative midfield player - Leekie & Dozza do a lot of running but our final ball is not good, although to be fair the pitch didn't suit our passing game and made control difficult and we rather sank to their level. A bizzare first goal and an own goal sums up our play in front of goal at the moment as well. Difficult to pick a MOTM today as they were all much of a muchness.

Thanks for an excellent report, with all those dropped points away from PP, it's imperative we keep a 100% record at home to keep in touch with the leading teams. Remember the old saying "points in the bag are better than games in hand"
