Re: MERTHYR v Poo le
I thought Poole were a good side and it was an entertaining game to watch.HOPEFULLY the sad incident with one of Poole's players a few years ago will now put aside and goodwill will be around for future meetings.

After a fairly patchy first half of the season, I think Baggy put in his best performance yesterday.
The entire team put a shift in,and matched Poole for energy and effort.
Well done lads.

Havnt been to watch a game since beginning of December and must say I was impressed with Merthyr they dug deep against a strong side all plyed well and I thought the back four were outstanding because they were under alot of pressure.if we could get a good ball plyer in midfield now we can beat most teams in this league.

If he wasn't fully fit why put him on the bench, ????scamp wrote:Agree with you perhaps he is not fully fit

It's not unknown for players who are not fully fit to be on the subs' bench, because they may still be fit enough to play some part in the game. An example was Kayne McLaggon being among the substitutes for several matches in November when he was coming back from injury.

Sorry I don't believe fitness as anything to do with him not being played, I don't think he fits in to S J plans ,of courseMerthyr Imp wrote:It's not unknown for players who are not fully fit to be on the subs' bench, because they may still be fit enough to play some part in the game. That's just my opinion.

IMO because we now play 4-4-2, SJ wants wide players who track back to help the defence & win the ball back as well being able to play further forward, unfortunately Kerry is mainly an offensive player who leaves the full back exposed to counter attacks & as such the system does not suit his talents, good as they are. IMO this is why he is generally used in the latter stages of games only.

Similar to that, I noticed on Saturday that Keyon Reffell was often dropping back fairly deep to help the midfield when Poole had the ball, especially towards the end of the first half. I think he did a pretty good job too.
