Merthyr v met police

Lost 3-2 at home today against second place met police
With Wimborne winning we now lie bottom of the league
If this team had been with us earlier in the season we would not be in this position now
Both recent additions had a goal each Powell’s goal being a penalty
The youngster Fraser Thomas had an excellent game

Considering that our defence was sliced open within three minutes, that we conceded two more goals before half-time and that we are now bottom of the table, I came away feeling optimistic. We won the second half and had most of the possession throughout the game. The Police were fast, accurate and strong in their build up and converted virtually the only three chances they had. By contrast, our build-ups were slow and complicated, allowing them to defend in numbers and stifle most of our attacks. But we now have some effective players who will bring on the less experienced and, as the team develops as a unit, we shall improve. Whether we can do enough to escape the drop is uncertain, but it's certainly not impossible. It was good to see Yakubu back from injury and maybe we can now put a much needed run together. Well done boys.
