By Oct 29 Merthyr Town sat in 8th position in their first season in the Football League Third division, which was topped by Southampton and Crystal Palace. At this point there were only three divisions in the league. The creation of an extra division and the split of the third division into north and south did not happen until the following season.

 

On the 16th October Merthyr lost 0-1 away at Watford so they without a win away up toi that time.

 

On the same day the Welsh league team beat Cardiff University 6-0 at Penydarren Park.

 

Two days later Merthyr played and beat second division Stockport County in a frendly in front of 10,000 fans at Penydarren Park. Despite providing a detailed description of the strengths and weaknesses of both teams the reporter omitted to give the score.

 

On the 23rd Merthyr hosted Grimsby Town and won 3-1 to maintain their unbeaten home record.

 

In the Merthyr league Town Boys met Troedyrhiw Stars at Rhydycar in front of a record crowd to finish the previous seasons fixtures which had not been completed owing to the bad weather that had set in.

 

The Merthyr Schools league consisting of 15 teams was topped by Georgetown.

Trials werte taking place to select a side to represent merthyr against Abertillery in the English Schools Shield
