Merthyr Town in the Southern League 1909-1920

Good afternoon everyone. I am a Reading supporter for my sins. I have been researching all the RFC and opponents line-ups during their spell in the SL for 1894 to 1920. During lock-down O have expanded that project to try to find the line-ups and scorers for all Southern League Division 1 and 2 games for the same period.

The British Newspaper Archive is generally a good source of information for Division 1 games, but Division 2 was barely covered. I have found the Merthyr Express provides general summaries of some games, but they didn't report line-ups etc.

I have also tried the Welsh Newspaper Archive online, but the search engine isn't particularly helpful.

Does anyone on this board have any ideas as to which newspapers would be useful to help in my exercise? Better still, if anyone on here has any historic data on Merthyr (or indeed any of the South Wales clubs in the SL at the time), they would be prepared to share with me, I'd be very grateful. I will of course share any information I have with anyone who can use it.

When the project is finally finished, I can upload summary tables along the lines of the old Rothmans Football Yearbooks if that would be of interest.

'Merthyr Town AFC 1908-1934 A History' by Philip Sweet
