Chesham United v Merthyr Town
Chesham United 2 Merthyr Town 1
In an ill-tempered match flaring up with several yellow cards for players and managers, Merthyr were left hanging on to their play-off hopes while table toppers Chesham cemented their postion.
A soggy pitch on a stormy night saw Chesham deserved winners, especially for their second half display.
Tom Handley scored, as he did last Saturday before Zack Josph levelled after the ball slipped out of Jaimie Cogman's hands to trickle over the line with no defender able to do anything.
A clumsy second half challenge from Gethyn Hill on Ricardo German, substitute, saw the same player hit the winner from the penalty spot.
Nye Livermore was lucky to have only a yellow card and was immediately taken off
Merthyr now have lost four from five games while Chesham have taken 22 points from eight matches.
Bracknell are puahing for the play-offs and come to Merthyr on Saturday (3pm). Wales are at Twickenham for the teatime rugby clash with England.
ATTENDANCE AT CHESHAM 503,
Merthyr are joint third with Gosport as both clubs have the same points and goal difference but Borough have two games in hand.

Re: Chesham United v Merthyr Town
No post match interview or analysis from anyone after another defeat. But, what can be said really? The recent comments, ‘we’ll learn from this,’ seems to be falling on deaf ears, with four defeats in the last five outings and more than a third of defeats in total up to now. Full squad turnout, (apart from Rhodes and Fuller) so no excuses on shortage of numbers. We just don’t have a Plan B. Opposing teams/management soon work out our playing method and either, add an extra man to the midfield area, or choose to bypass and opt for route one football and then we are lost. Because of our squad/set up of play, we’re unable to produce any alternatives. We even tried ‘hoofing football’ on Tuesday and nothing came of that. Fortunately, other results are helping us stay in a play off position, but games are running out. We’ve had run outs against teams around us of late and come home second best, so let’s hope we can pick up points against teams who, ‘let us play the only way we can.’
