Former Merthyr player dies

Former Welsh international winger Ronnie Rees, who had a spell with Merthyr Tydfil and Haverfordwest in the mid 1970s before retiring, has died, aged 79. Born in Ystradgynlas, he signed for Coventry City after being spotted playing for Merthyr Boys. He later went to Nottingham Forest and West Brom before a move to Swansea. He had 39 caps for Wales and could play on either wing.
