Hereford FC
Apparently Hereford drew an attendance of just over 2,000 to their friendly match at Malvern Town tonight. Admittedly this was the first ever match of the new club, and Malvern is fairly local to them, but it was on a Tuesday night, so maybe a pointer to how many we might expect a week on Saturday.

2006 a record for Malvern, and Hereford won 3-2.

Hereford fans on Bulls Banter are asking where the best place for a pre match pint is, as I don't know the pubs in Merthyr I can not help them.

Can't go wrong along the High St. really. Spoons etc. Mrs M and myself used to pop in the Anchor (enjoyed a couple of pre-match pints down there with Matt Martyr, Rovingsheep and Benji) but its currently closed for refurb. My current match day fave is the Park View. Old skool pub, sadly no stout on sale.

The Grawen has to be the best pub closest to the ground (probably one of the best in the whole of Merthyr). It's a bit of a walk but the beer garden and covered seating area is superb, there are TV's everywhere with live sports and most importantly a fine selection of booze.
This is my first post on the forum so apologies if I've done it incorrectly!

The nearby Rose and Crown in the Quar is a fine clean and refurbished hostelry with a large selection of reasonably priced ales for those with a discerning pallet.

Re: Hereford FC
For Saturday’s game v Hereford FC access will be via turnstiles as normal or the usual vehicle entrance.
Once in the ground access will be available to all stands via the car park at back of the Dave Miles stand, while re-construction of the CANDAC and dressing rooms continue.
The CANDAC remains closed but alcohol and other refreshments will be available around the ground.

Hereford have signed John Mills from Didcot, Mills 25 scored 57 goals for Didcot last season, also joining Mills at Hereford from Didcot will be Pablo Heysham.

They must be paying well for that pair to drop down a division.

From Didcot Town's website:
'Didcot’s joint boss Ian Concannon said he was disappointed to lose Mills, who turned down the Bulls last season after they went out of business. But the Bulls came back with an offer that Mills could not turn down.
'“They (Mills and Haysham) won’t be with us next season,,” said Concannon. “They have been offered a lot of money to go...
'"At the end of last season, we understood he (Mills) would be going elsewhere to play at a higher level. He had various trials at other clubs and we offered him a deal, but Hereford have come in and offered him a serious amount of money, which we could not match.'
