Harry Williams put the home side ahead  before Ricardo Rees levelled just before half time. Williams netted a disputed penalty on 66  minutes. Two minutes later Merthyr manager Paul Michael was sent off for dissent after a challenge by a home player on a Merthyr opponent.
Final score Swindon  Supermarine 2  Merthyr Town 1. Merthyr drop one place in the table- to 15th.
The Merthyr manager's  interview after Saturday's game didn't seem to  agree overall  with the match report on the club's  website  as the manager made five changes today in the starting line-up.

Was it a  controversial penalty? Bear- hugging in the penalty  area, according to a video online. Penalty deserved from  all accounts, some fans say.

Swindon fans on social media criticised the Merthyr manaager and said he should have "steadied the ship " from the dug-out after such an incident of a "perceived injustice" as he would not be of any good in the dressing room. Another Swindon fan said the incident happened in front of the referee and it was always going to end up being a penalty.

"What support from the fans today," said Ricardo Rees later. "Really disappointing result but good to be on the score sheet again."

FROM MARINE WEBSITE REPORT

The Martyrs responded with a triple substitution to try and quell the storm but it was to no avail. After a flurry of second half corners eventually a deep one from Henry Spalding reached Mat Liddiard at the back stick but he could only just get his head on the ball to he was hauled to the ground by a Merthyr defender. The referee thought for a split second about his decision but blew for a penalty. HARRY WILLIAMS stepped up to send the ball into the bottom corner of the net to give Marine the lead on 68 minutes, giving keeper Fuller no chance this time and adding to his goal tally of nine league goals in six games this season. Minutes later a fine challenge from Sam Turl to deny the Merthyr attacker saw Merthyr Town boss Paul Michael dismissed for dissent towards the referee.
