I will be heading down looking foward to going to Jenner Park been a few years since my last visit. A great occassion Barry are really looking forward to the fixture and in fairness their social media and fans have been superb. Even a mention on Radio Wales sportshow today. Two teams with a lot of history and been through a lot on and indeed off the pitch.

Be nice seeing Ryan Dorrian for the first time since he left Merthyr

It will be interesting to see what team we put out. It's a quick turnover from today's game so I'm expecting a few changes. I get the impression that it's a bigger game for Barry than ourselves. Would still be nice to win obviously

I would think the five substitutes from today will start along with Giles Cutlan and Owain Warlow.

I agree. Still a strong squad in depth so I suspect that we will give them a good go!

Yes, quite true. Barry also have another ex-Martyr in their ranks, Troy Greening who I think joined us during the 2011-2012 season on loan from Newport County at the same time Ryan Newman joined us on loan before making his move permanent.

Does anyone know what the prize money is like for this League Cup? If any?

Total prize money is £15,000:
http://welsh-premier.com/index.php/match/cups/league-cup
According to Wikipedia £10,000 goes to the cup winners, £3,000 to the runners-up and £1,000 to each of the losing semi-finalists.
By the way, there are no replays - so I assume it's extra time and penalties on the night if necessary.

That's not as bad as I thought to be fair. I'd rather see us in this Cup than the Red Insure, that's for insure!

So "As things stand" we have a 22 man squad, the 16 on duty yesterday plus Cutlan, Gavin, Rewbury, Leek, Adie Harris & Warlow
Maths wasn't my greatest subject all those years ago at Quakers Yard Grammar School but I think I got this right!?

That's not counting Paul Keddle. A year ago at this time we had we 20 players.

Yes of course we have Paul Keddle too, so that's a 23 man squad. Very difficult for SJ to keep the fringe players happy, do you think a couple will leave?

I think there will be the inevitable departures as the season progresses together with some new arrivals. I would think the squad will end up around 18/19 after the FA and Trophy cup runs are complete. I think this could develop into an interesting and intriguing season as SJ comes to terms with the Physical demands of the Southern League and our quest for promotion.
I've every confidence we will be challenging for that promotion spot next April.

Obviously having a big squad will result in departures as the season progresses but having this squad allows us to have more options and compete more in early season games. I recollect that we had to use youth players in our matchday squad at Bridgwater in September last season and we had other injuries also, with more players it allows to have cover for injuries, suspensions and players who have to work which is really handy.

Pitch inspection at Jenner Park at Noon, following heavy overnight rain.

This evenings game has been postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
Please can we play Bridgwater tomorrow night!?!?

Looking at our fixtures this will be a nightmare to re-arrange.

Both Barry Town United and ourselves have mid-week league commitments until early September.
