Bridgwater date Sunday 21 April 2013 3pm kick off
Bridgwater confirmed our home fixture Sunday 21 April 3pm kick off. Not ideal but best option in the circumstances.

Re: Bridgwater date Sunday 21 April 2013 3pm kick off
I'll see if I can find my boots. I can play anywhere on the right, preferably on the wing!
So it will be Wimborne home on the Saturday and Bridgwater home on the Sunday. That's the way it has to be but then I suppose people will say they can't afford to see two games in two days. It makes it very difficult for club finances. The fixture pile-up in the league has been the worst I can remember for years.
However, we have in the past faced two games over a weekend. Years ago the club were set to play two matches in Kent, travelled a large part of the way only to hear the game had been postponed. And the Sunday game was called off too!

Correct; so it is four games in eight days, a difficult task in our aspirations.

But as the little boy in the BBC Welsh rugby(sorry for the bad language) advert says "we can do this".

We also had 2 games one weekend at Wellingborough on the Saturday and Kings Lynn on the Sunday back in the late eighties. We won both and if memory serves me it was 3-1 on Saturday and 5-2 on the Sunday. I was working for a month in Northampton at the time and managed to see both games. I also recall, when we were in the Conference us playing Enfield at home on a Saturday, winning 5-1 and then travelled to play Barrow on the Sunday and won 5-1 again.
Hopefully the old brain is remembering rightly - I'm sure Wandering will correct me if I'm wrong!

At least we have more depth to our squad this year so we probably be able to field the five or six players who do not play on saturday.Be more of a nightmare for bridgewater i would imagine

Re: Bridgwater Game
Hopefully we will have secured a home fixture in the Play off's by then, and we can rest some key players. It's a pity it could not be played on the Thursday before, but then again at least we will know by then what we are aiming for in terms of points for a play off spot.

27th and 28th February 1988. We drew 2-2 at Wellingborough (Phil Green and Andy Beattie) on the Saturday before beating Kings Lynn 5-2 (Phil Green 3, Dai Webley 2) on the Sunday.Old Sod wrote:We also had 2 games one weekend at Wellingborough on the Saturday and Kings Lynn on the Sunday back in the late eighties. Andy Dillon was playing in goal in the Wellingborough game but I seem to remember that he was injured and had to go off before Wynford Hopkins played for a substantial part of the remainder of the game between the sticks.
Wayne Jones played in goal in the game on the Sunday against Kings Lynn.
Spot on with the Enfield/Barrow results.
