Re: MERTHYR v Chalfont St Peter
Off the Chalfont web site:-
Merthyr Town 1 Yala 90+2og
Saints 0
FA Trophy First Round Qualifying (Saturday 29 September)
As matches go this was one of the best, an action packed game which could have had a multitude of goals but it only had the one at a time when everyone was expecting a replay next Tuesday.
The first 15 minutes was a time when both sides tested out each other. Saints then settled down and in a 12 minutes period Saints missed three easy chances first by McLeish then Hughes and Fitzgerald. Only they know why the ball did not cross the line.
For the rest of the half both teams battled to take the lead with Merthyr's custodian Giles Cutlan in excellent form.
The second half was as nail biting as things can be with posts, crossbars and last minute kicks off the line becoming the norm.
The clock ran down past the ninety minutes and still no score. Two minutes later a shot on the Chalfont goal hit unfortunate Glenn Yala and dribbled into the corner of the net. A disappointing result for Saints as the Merthyr officials were kind enough to say.

Striker
I would throw Jake Harris into the hat, currently playing for Newport (who have signed another striker today), limited appearances this season and comes alive in the box. Went on loan to Frome last season in Southern Prem and done really well, could be a good option on loan?

Re: MERTHYR v Chalfont St Peter
The newport manager was on welsh radio sport today talking about this latest signing. He is from the lower reaches of non league football but because he was a prolific marksman in that league he was prepared to give him a chance. He admits it will be a gamble on his part but is fully prepared to give him an opportunity with newport. This is what we should be doing with the likes of jamie who left for ton and the lad mcdonald with monmouth .
it might be a problem like with jamie if left on the bench but i suppose we can only field eleven at a time

Jake Harris would absolutely destroy this league. If you could get him on loan for a few months he almost certainly would get you the goals to fire you up the table when the cup's come to an end.
He averages a goal something like every 45 minutes for us but can't get a game for whatever reason.
