Give him a break - when was the last time Deano scored?!!Merthyr Imp wrote:Solihull Martyr wrote:1-7 Clarke Pen 73mins!
I wonder why Ryan Prosser didn't take the penalty? Scored from one last week and on a hat trick today.

11 points clear now, although Oldland have 3 games in hand. Bradford hit another 5 today, but Devizes only won 1-0 v Chard.

Thanks for all the updates.
An incredible result against a team in the top half of the table.

And another highest attendance of the season for a home team hosting MTFC.
Next game will be a toughie as Devizes will be going for 13 wins on the trot (unlucky for some)

The thing about Devizes is that they now have only 3 games left at home with 7 away - starting with us. They also have to play Oldland and Bridport away. Plus, thanks to their poor start to the season they are the only team in the top half of the table with a minus goal difference.

Re: MERTHYR v Shrewton
Not a bad result! To be honest so much happened it was difficult to keep up. We need the Imp to come to away games.
We went at them from the start and took our early chances. Steino scored with a header into the roof of the net from about 4 yards after their goalie - who had an excellent game @ TW - missed a cross from the right, by Pross, I think. Steino was put through for the 2nd and rifled it past the keeper again into the roof of the net. We continued to press but went to sleep a bit to allow Shrewton back into the game with a poor goal from our point of view thanks to a defensive error.
Shep took Dozza off at half time as he was booked late in the first half after a 2 footed tackle and he didn't want to risk a red card. Tubbsy came on and Badger moved to left back. The second half was like a game of attack v defence. Pross got the 3rd deflecting in a Leigh Smith shot. Marcus hooked a ball in with his right foot after the ball came back off a defender. Steino got our 4th & his 3rd with a close in shot past the keeper and then Pross got his 2nd - can't remember how, but who cares - and then we got a soft penalty which produced the goal of the game! Clarkie sent the keeper the wrong way when he slotted it into the corner of the net. All the players wanted him to take it so that he could get one of his rare goals. Pross shot the 8th past the keeper from close range and to be honest we could have had 12 but for a good goalkeeping display in the 2nd half and some indifferent finishing which is a strange thing to say when we scored 8.
The boys did very well today and Shrewton were a very demoralised outfit by the end. Yet another great welcome from the Shrewton people who were genuinely pleased to see us and no doubt they made a few bob in the bar.
We are now well clear and those clubs below us who have games in hand are under real pressure to win them now. When they were within touching distance with only a couple of games in hand they knew if we slipped up they could get closer but now they have a lot to do to catch us. I don't know how Oldland are going to fit in all their games without lights so they may have to play a couple of games on a Saturday & Sunday.
Well done Garry, Danny and the boys.

Thanks Gordon. The Shrewton secretary who was a really nice guy emailed it to Jamie. It's a nice photo of Wayne and Mrs Old Sod as well. Shame about the other one!

Indeed. However I presume the "young Merthyr fan" isn't the scary one on the left hand side!!GordonTheGopher wrote:Old Sod nice photo of Wayne on Shrewton web click on news.
