Re: 3G Pitch discussions
We have to aim for The Blue Square South before we can get to The BSP. At present, the club's ground grading is only for the Southern League. BSP clubs are largely full-time. How on earth could Merthyr Town FC sustain a full-time club? Look at our fan base and the present financial position.
We don't belong anywhere; it all depends on what we can manage as regards the players, support and finances. In the then Conference, we had one good season with gates and then they slumped.
And as I keep asking, without reply, how will people want to or afford to pay about £15 or £17 to watch BSP football at PP when they can't or won't pay £8 at present?
Anyway, we are a long way from The BSP.First things first; we have to be realistic!

Tim is quite right it is not a case of no ambition, but a large dose of realism.

Re: 3G Pitch discussions
Yeh the 3g pitch would be a great start. If we can tick every box that need to as a Club (On & Off the pitch) then there is every chance to get where we can and move forward. Not an easy task mind.

Yes I agree! It will be the first major step into becoming a very unique community facility.

Re: 3G Pitch discussions
The decision on the applicaion for a grant from the Ffos y Fran fund will be delayed until the club's officers are able to present further information requested by the committee deciding on the grant. This will hopefully be in the next couple of weeks.
Re: 3G Pitch discussions
Can imagine these things do take time so I'm not surprised with the delay. Fingers crossed!

Re: 3G Pitch Discussions
The worry is if it drags on for to long, then there wont be time to install it, and get all the other necessary work completed by the start of next season! Have they given a definitive date of when the decision will be reached?

The funders also monitor the ongoing situation when work is carried out.The same people are funding a mezzanine floor which has just been completed at The Willows Centre, Troedyrhiw.

Re: 3G Pitch discussions
Well it seems like the funder's were happy with the application but obviously when your asking fot a lot of money these things do take time.
The instillation time is a slight concern, I'm not sure how long it would take myself.

Re: 3G Pitch discussions
I have been trying to find out information as to how long installation will take but I can't seem to see anything.
First, we have to wait and see if the funding gets the go-ahead.

I have tried looking on the Internet for some information about that. The Wikipedia entry for Maidstone United's Gallagher Stadium says their 3G pitch was laid in 3 days. On the other hand, one artificial pitch provider I looked at indicated up to 3 months!
There seem to be lots of organisations who can supply and install artificial pitches, but they seldom seem to say on their websites how long installation takes. My guess is that they don't do so because it depends on each individual case.
