Many of us will remember the previous Enfield, for example the 6-1 home defeat in the FA Trophy?

That game was played in 1981-82 season and I vividly remember the footballing lesson we received on the day from Eddie McCluskey's team. We couldn't handle Nicky Ironton and Noel Ashford who were both big names in the Alliance League at the time. Enfield went on to win the FA Trophy that season beating Altrincham 1-0 in the final at Wembley, ironically only a few miles from their North London home.

But we gained our revenge only two season's later in 83-84, with a magnificent 2-0 win at Penydarren Park after an Ian Docherty inspired performance.

We also met Enfield in the FA Trophy in 89/90 season, our first in the Conference, when we narrowly lost 3-2 at Southbury Road.

In 94/95 after a 1-1 draw at Enfield, we won the replay 1-0 at Penydarren Park. Before the first game on a bitterly cold day we took a bus load of Junior Martyrs on a guided tour of Wembley Stadium.
