Today's team:

Perry;
J.Thomas,A.Thomas,Welsh;
Williams,Hartshorn,A.Griffiths,Traylor,Howe;
Shephard,Prosser;

Subs:
Leek for J.Thomas after about 70 minutes
Adams for Traylor after about 80 minutes
Newall
Hitchcock
Payne

With Ryan Dorrian and Marcus Griffiths presumably unfit, and Kris Leek only able to be on the bench Ian Traylor continued in the attacking midfield role with u19 players Lewis Hitchcock and Dan Payne joining new signing Jamie Adams as subs.

For the first 15 minutes neither goalkeeper was troubled as the fairly dull play was confined to midfield. But we took the lead after about 20 minutes when a free kick on the edge of the Street area led to a long throw on the right. The ball was cleared from Ryan Prosser as he was about to shoot then came to Garry Shephard on the right of goal. His shot from close range was blocked but Jack Howe put the ball into the net.

A minute or so after the goal Street had their first scoring attempt - a well-hit low shot from 20 yards that went straight to Joe Perry. Soon afterwards they put in another attack and we were glad to see a shot go inches wide of the far post.

From our next attack Ryan Prosser put a diving header straight at the keeper when it seemed he might have done better. On 30 minutes it looked as if we might regret that when Street equalised. Jason Welsh was adjudged to have pushed a man over just outside the area on the right, and when a good free kick came across it was headed in at the far post.

Overall it had not been a good half for us to that point with little going right up front and not much being created. But after about 38 minutes, following a long throw, the ball was deflected for a corner. When that came in it was cleared only as far as Garry Shephard just outside the area. He put a great shot across and in by the far post. Two minutes later it was 3-1 when Jack Howe swung a cross over from the left to to Steve Williams beyond the far post. He headed the ball down for it to bounce up and inside the far post.

Overall it was a fairly ordinary display for most of the half, but the 2 quick goals turned things round to give rather a flattering scoreline at half time.

Two minutes into the second half it was 4-1. Ian Traylor started the move with a ball out to Ryan Prosser on the left. His shot was blocked, but the ball came to Traylor again, close to goal on the left. He turned on it smartly and slotted the ball into the net with his left foot.

We extended the lead after about 57 minutes from a corner - Jason Welsh headed against the far post, but the ball came to Ryan Prosser near the penalty spot for him to hammer it into the net through a crowd of players.

Street should have pulled a goal back a couple of minutes later when Joe Perry had to save at the near post. The ball was returned across goal for an attacker to put it over the bar from 7 yards.

With 20 minutes to go Kris Leek came on for Jamie Thomas - Lee Hartshorn dropping back into defence. 10 minutes from the end Jamie Adams came on in a straight swap for Ian Traylor.

A couple of minutes from time we came within inches of a 6th when a good break forward saw Garry Shephard cross to Ryan Prosser beyond the far post. His header was half blocked by the keeper and ran along the goal line before being cleared.

After a start which was a bit like carrying from the Bishop Sutton match the two quick goals put us well in control, with the early goal after the break finishing off a Street side who were not the best in defence. Alun Griffiths was named as man of the match, and I wouldnt argue with that. Ryan Prosser was disappointing in the first half but was worth his goal in the second. After we went 5-1 up he couldn't be blamed for at times looking as if he wanted to take on the whole Street defence on his own!

Attendance of 301 was disappointing. Let's hope for decent weather next week so the missing 100 will be sorry they missed today's big win and come back again.
