WORLD SOCCER MAG PLAYER OF YEAR
World Soccer Magazine has published the name of the 2020 player of the year in their 39th annual awards.
Players are selected on the basis of votes by 41 soccer journalists, mainly based in Europe.
In the previous 38 years only one British player has been voted player of the year - Michael Owen while playing for Liverpool in 2001.
The only other player selected while playing for A British club was Cristiano Ronaldo while playing for Manchester United in 2008.
Ronaldo has won the award five times in total.
Lionel Messi has also won it 5 times.
Diego Maradona won in 1986 while playing for Napoli.
The 2020 winner is Robert Lewandowski of Bayern Munich and Poland.
The highest based British player was Marcus Rashford in 18th position
Bayern's manager Hansi Flick was manager of the year.
