Board Statement
Quoted from club website.
"The Board of Merthyr town FC have carried out a review of the current business model, as a result of the review the post of Chief Executive Officer will cease to operate.
The club would like to place record its thanks for all of the hard work and dedication shown by Robert Price over the last few years, in delivering the new building within budget and setting the foundations for the club to continue to grow within the community of Merthyr Tydfil and the wider area.
The board are working with all the staff to ensure a smooth transition to the new model. There is a supporter’s meeting on Thursday 3rd August at 7pm where the board will answer any questions.

Re: Board Statement
This is a bold move by the Board, I thought the original appointment came about due to the increased workload requiring a professional in that position. There are obviously plans in place to now cover the duties of a CEO.
There has been many dissenting voices from numerous volunteers and supporters at the original appointment of a CEO probably to do with the wages, so let us hope they all now rally to make this move by the Board the right one.
Best of luck to Robert for the future.

Board Statement
Well 2017 continues to baffle me.
Brexit, Trump, May and now Rob Price leaving our Club.
I am sorry to hear it when any person who has worked hard for the Club leave whether they be fan, volunteer or Employee.
Nobody knows how difficult a job like this takes or the time effort and worry that goes with it.
I wish Rob every success in his next venture- and thank him for his efforts helping us in our transitional years.
I hope whoever inherits this 'chalice' can steady the ship through stormy waters and that any cracks or divisions within the club and its support can now be 'papered' over.
Shocked to be honest.

I'm not shocked regarding the removal of the CEO, I'll be surprised if certain members of the board don't stand down so that we can move forward as a" FOOTBALL CLUB"

Have to agree, I'm not shocked either. Sometimes decisions have to be made no matter how unpalatable they seem for the good of the Club. Time now for all supporters to back the Board and Gavin as they take the Club forward.

Board Decision
Well said Rustic.
The stability of the Club is the most important thing.
Regimes change but Martyrs Fans we all are and will remain.
A tempestuous pre-season needs a period of conciliation and reflection by all.

I would like to think that his substantive salary will be ploughed into the playing side now. Unless financially the club need to recoup. No idea what the cashflow at the club is. Its been stated that the playing budget is already up by 42 per cent.

R well we all make mistakes, perhaps that's why the CEO position is no longer

Re: Board Statement
Hoping to use a bit of common sense here as there seems to be more to this than meets the eye.
It's been well documented that the playing budget has constantly been increasing, even Gavin has a full time contract now. To have been able to pay for that, we have needed the income streams from the business side.
What I don't understand is after a 'financial review' the position of the CEO has been terminated which seems to be a cost cutting exercise. For a position to be terminated, that must surely mean that there will be cuts elsewhere along the line.
Have the board members past or present let certain finances go out of control?
The club has come a long way and the work behind the scenes seems to be going well. I wouldn't like to see the work that helps to fund our 1st team at risk because of some decisions that have been made.

Re: Board Statement
What I can't work out is why now , surely the business situation would have been realised when the accounts were being collated for the AGM we can all see the financial deficit showing ,this year's budget had been excepted by the board surely the CEO wage was incorporated if the budget was passed by the board why now is it not making business seance to continue with a CEO's position (Srtrange )

Good post, I would guess that our Actual Income to date has not reached the Budgeted amount forecast therefore our Expenditure going forward would have to be reduced to compensate. Everyone can Budget but it is achieving the actual budgeted figures that matters and possibly we have been over optimistic with our Income Forecasts.
This is only my best guess and of course I may be entirely wrong, but I don't think I'm far off the mark!

Re: Board Statement
I do tend to agree with you there Doug. It does seem very strange. To get rid of a CEO position is quite a drastic move regardless of whether you think we should have one or not. If this is just one of the cuts that are to be made then it does make me think how this position has occurred, if indeed we are in a tight position.
I've noted a few times that the playing budget has kept going up for many years. That seemed to be fine as players had been getting paid on time. Well, we probably would have heard if that wasn't the case. It makes sense that our first team overall is our biggest expenditure but with the budget increases that have been posted on here and Gav going full time for example, have we overdone it in that department?

Well, unless any further information is forthcoming before then, the meeting for all supporters on 3rd August in Romans when the supporter liaison officers will be available to answer questions will be an ideal opportunity to find out what it's all about - there'll be no need for guesswork then!
