The close season is closing and the first friendly is upon us.

The weekend friendly gives us a chance to see who is still committed to the cause of the Martyrs.

Biggest draw will be seeing the performance of ex- league player Fleetwood and the quality of the service he will receive from Kerry Morgan and Traylor.

And of course a chance to imbibe too ( One for you Ownes).

Well Ownes....I can understand why you weren't a big fan of Call my Bluff spending most of the time with constabulary duties to be done....Coogan's Bluff being more up 'beat' for you I would imagine.

Just so you don't get too confused due to these 'PC' times....Theo Saurus wasn't Kojak's character name.....you might want to use it as a 'pocket book' and Banachek it out sometime later in the season.

The first half we were disjointed but in the 2nd we looked a different team. In fact we were as Gav made about 8 changes with him in midfield and Fleetwood upfront and he was very industrious. A nice runout on a warm afternoon.

The winner of the 50/50 was recent Martyrs convert ( one of my introductions) Ken Bishop who has waived his right to anonymity.

He has vowed to do a Viv Nicholson and Spend, Spend , Spend.

He can't decide to blow it all in one go on a Mars Bar or a Twix.
