Contractor Appointed
Merthyr Town FC are extremely happy to announce that local firm ACE Building Contractors have been awarded the contract for the development of Penydarren Park.
Merthyr Town Football Club Chairman, Meurig Price had this to say “The appointment of ACE Contractors to carry out the redevelopment of Penydarren Park is a fantastic announcement to be able to make. As a local contractor, ACE Construction will be able to employ young local apprentices to work on the redevelopment and help them create a successful future for themselves in the construction trade.
We as Merthyr Town Football Club can’t wait to open our doors to the communities of Merthyr Tydfil and the surrounding areas and display the fantastic facilities that will be at Penydarren Park once the redevelopment is complete.”
The £1.8m development which sees Merthyr Town Football Club working in partnership with Welsh Government through their Vibrant and Viable Places programme and will enable Merthyr Town FC to provide state of the art sporting, educational, training, recreational and banqueting facilities for the whole community in Merthyr Tydfil and surrounding areas for decades to come and become a major asset of community value.
“ACE Building Contractors are delighted to be awarded the contract for the redevelopment at Merthyr Town Football Club. We are thrilled as a local contractor to be offered this opportunity and be involved with such a fantastic project which will enable us to create employment for local people and boost the local economy.
Merthyr Town FC is a great club with loyal supporters that fully deserve the much anticipated redevelopment. We look forward to working with the club and Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council who have been exceptional in helping secure this project.” Were the words of Kevin Jones, ACE Managing Director when asked about being appointed as contractor.
Council Leader Brendan Toomey had this today regarding the appointment “The development at Penydarren Park has been well publicised and is going to be a major asset for Merthyr Tydfil for years to come. An added benefit of this development is the employment opportunities it brings as local building firm, Ace Building Contractors have been hired to work on this project.”
