Just read that Steve has left the club. If correct, would like to thank Mr W for his tremendous contribution to the club over the past 10-15 years. Always good to see a local lad in the side. Best of luck Willo!

I am sure sometime in the future he will be on the wall of fame as the Merthyr born captain of the team that rose from the ashes of the former club. Was only interviewed about him last week for Spanish television calling him a club legend.

Re: Steve Williams
It's a real shame to see Willo leave us. I rate him as a player and like him personally as he's a nice lad. I'm sure he still wants to play and has had little game time this season but when you look at our league position you can't really fault the selections SJ has made this season.
He will be missed and I hope he finds a club and carries on playing for a few more years.
Thanks for everything, Willo.

Steve has signed for Ton Pentre. Good luck to him at his new club. Still sorry to see him go, though!

Steve - 'Willo' - deserves the lasting gratitude of all at Merthyr Town FC for the immense part he has played in helping the club back close to where we belong. He has provided excellent leadership as captain and been a commanding figure in defence, and his probing forward runs have done much to put opponents under pressure and help bring about our rise from the deepest depths of the Western League. He has earned a place among club legends and I hope he will be given the warmest of welcomes if and when he returns to the Park.
