NUNEATON TOWN PUT KEY PLAYERS UP FOR SALE AND INVITE OFFERS FOR THE REST OF
THE SQUAD

Nuneaton Town have put two star players up for sale and invited enquiries
for the rest of their play-off chasing squad. An email to their Skrill
Premier rivals, plus all Football League, Skrill North and South sides
offers them top scorer Louis Moult, highly-rated goalkeeper Kelle Roos and
already transfer-listed winger Wes York. Interested parties are asked to
contact owner Ian Neale. Clubs are invited to call Neale, who is also the
chief executive, about any other member of the squad they are interested in.
Two other players - Greg Pearson and Connor Taylor - are offered for
transfer or loan with clubs asked to contact Neale or manager Kevin Wilkin
in that instance.

When contacted, Neale did not say if the email, sent on Tuesday, is because
the club is in financial trouble, but he admits it needs a cash injection.
He believes it is in the best interests of the club, which is one point off
the play-offs, to sell now for the biggest possible fee. His statement said:
"Since the opening of the transfer window we have had a steady stream of
enquiries for players that, with the exception of Andy Brown and Gareth
Dean, are out of contract in the summer. This means that the players will be
able to sign for other clubs and we would be only entitled to compensation,
so with players that have been with us for a short period of time it seems
that we should look to maximise the return to the club rather than relying
on something that would be limited and out of our control. And it may be
that offers do not reach an agreeable value and they don't move. The players
involved all have ambitions to play at a higher level and these matters
would have been discussed during contract talks. Every club is a selling
club and if an acceptable offer was received and it was in the best
interests of the club then we would seriously consider the matter. Wes York
is somewhat different to Roos and Moult in that he refused an improved
contract in the summer as wanting to progress and be full time, so again,
rather than stall this matter we want to work with the player for the
benefit of the club. None of this is rocket science but a simple appraisal -
if we do nothing it would not be in the best interests of the club and on
the basis that we knew this may have happened we had put together a target
list (of replacements)."

Neale went on to say that it is unlikely any signings will be made this
month unless players leave. He says the reason only he is listed as a
contact for permanent transfers is because they would be a financial matter.
Neale insists he wants the club to go for promotion, but says Boro need a
cash injection to do so.

"We still have ambition for promotion, submitting our application to the
Football League, but at the same time maintaining a sensible position that
realistically, until we can attract a significant investor to compete on
monetary terms for playing budget and invest in more infrastructure with
staff and facilities of the club, further progression is limited," he said.
"This is something I have openly been working on for around a year as I
believe in a town of 78,000 people and the funding available in League Two,
it is not only realistic, but also much more sustainable even with the costs
of a full-time playing operation. Much work has been done and will continue
to develop in planning, but we really do need a significant investor to
realise these ambitions, either with or without me at the helm of the club."
