Re: Merthyr Town v Cardiff City
It was men against boys tonight...shame the boys won...but for me two new superheroes evolved tonight on the pitch to rival the marvel characters the Xmen.....3G men...Giles Cutlan & Dan Summerfield..it may be the effects of the radon gas under the plastic pitch ....or the fox excrement ....but tonight I am sure Gilo had mutated and had three arms ....as nothing could pass the human windmill....Summerfield....a super marker(t) was like a defensive 'fox in the box..' tonight the cub with the physique of Johnny Owen ....became a 'dog' of war..snapping at anything that moved and spitting feathers.... You dont win anything by winning in friendly matches....but the real winner tonight was the football club coffers....after the cinderford drought....it was nice to see so many bums on seats and a real crowd again even it was mainly our Cardiff cousins fans....only bad thing ....the queue for the cafe was longer than that for Disneyworld Space Mountainin Florida....but I'd happily get used to that...thanks Cardiff .....a pleasure to see you at Parc y Cigge - the home of the plastic fag..please come again next time your team is away from home....Boz

Re: Merthyr Town v Cardiff City
The first half produced some good football from both sides. City created more chances but Giles Cutlan was in superb form, pulling off five or six quality stops.
City stepped up the pace after the break. The Martyrs brought on several substitutes, including some youth team members towards the end.Craig Morris also replaced Cutlan.
We lost the ball which led to their first goal but we equalised soon afterwards. Then City rattled in a few goals in a short time, showing their full-time fitness and coaching.
A good night. There were lots of fans supporting Merthyr who we don't normally see. Perhaps they will return.

Matthew Harris was the Merthyr scorer, by the way. He equalised shortly after City had taken the lead.

Thought Dan Summerfield and Cutlan were really solid and both deserved to be man of the match, only wish you could hear the tannoy system to find who the subsitutes were and the fifty fifty numbers.
