The crowd is always counted by adding the number of season ticket holders to the people who pay at the gate. Yesterday there were 3 sponsors with a considerable number of guests, which swelled the numbers present.

Crowd psychology suggests that supporters who are isolated or in groups of two or three are less likely to make a noise than larger groups. You need a certain number of people - a critical mass - to generate sustained vocal support, especially chanting or singing. The more supporters we have present, the more each of them is likely to be fired up by others and so the level of noise generated goes up. In other words, the more fans we have in the ground, the more each of them is likely to contribute to the overall noise level.

You can usually gauge the crowd by the prize money on offer in the 50/50 draw which was 157pound yesterday I believe,This being the largest amount for some time but as admin states there were a number of guests present yesterday which no doubt the club have an account of.

Do you mean the sponsors and their guests are not included in the attendance figure?

A further £215 added to the Junior Martyrs ball dribble fundraiser today. Thanks once again to everyone who collected and donated.

That is the case. Normally it does not make a lot of difference as we count all season ticket holders, some of whom are not there. That tends to cancel out guests. On this occasion the number of guests was higher than usual, although some of them were in fact season holders.

I think the game on Saturday was a good example of how things should be at games. A good atmosphere, good atmosphere for a family and what seemed to look like a good crowd.

This is the way forward as a community club! Well done to the junior Martyrs and the people who organised the half time dribble!
