Former players

Good to see some of the former "Merthyr" players at the annual reunion, including, of course, the manager Lyn Jones and Chris Holvey and Peter Jones from that era, Nigel Stevenson, Ian Thompson, local boy Paul Caviel, David Jones, Brian Chivers, ex-manager Emrys Evans, Tony Davies, Johnny Goggin, Johnny Watkins, former trainer Ieuan Evans, Ian Docherty and all the others .
There was also Cyril Hartson, father of John. In my alter ego, I usually sat with him at the back of Maldwyn Davies' minibus to away matches and we whiled away the journey with football conversation. John just looks a younger version of him. Cyril played for Merthyr in 1974.
Holvey reminisced about the number of different managers he played for at the Park.
