Sad news received this morning
We have been advised by Paul "Chicken" Overbury's family that he passed away this morning. Paul was appointed first team kit man when Garry & Danny took over and was much loved by everyone at the club.
Paul has been ill for quite sometime but still supported the club watching out home games and helping out around the dressing room area.
Our thoughts go out to his family at this difficult time. RIP Chicken.

Does anyone know how old he was?
Sad news for his family and for the Merthyr Town FC family. He was a true Martyr for years.

Really sad news about Paul. He was a true Martyr and loved coming to the football. He was 52 and his uncle lives opposite me and he's kept me informed of what was happening with Paul in recent weeks and said that he passed away peacefully this morning. He visited Paul and was lucky to be able to speak to him when Paul was concious a couple of days ago and a mention of the Martyrs brought a smile to Paul's face.
RIP Chicken.

I am sure I speak for all Supporters of Merthyr Town Football Club, the Board and all the playing staff when I say how saddened we were to hear of Pauls passing, he was a true Martyr and a tremendous supporter of our Club. Our condolences go to Pauls family and they can be assured that he will not be forgotten at the Park.

Paul overbury
Sorry to hear such sad news.
He was a real martyr.....he loved the club almost as much as the club loved him.
An unsung hero.
He was struggling towards the end so it is a blessing in a way....I am sure the club can think of a way to honour the man in some small way.
My sympathy goes out to his family at this time.
