Larkhall Athletic
Are not applying for promotion:-

And a change of manager as a consequence (to Gary Thorne's brother). Have to wait and see if that makes any difference to their form.

Good news for us and as The Imp says what difference will it make to their performances? Will their players say sod it and not go the extra mile, will some of them leave or will it release any pressure and they just go out and play? It'll be interesting to see.

Re: Larkhall Athletic
so their manager left because of the boards decision not to apply for promotion??
why has the board decided not to apply for promotion? something to do with upgrading their ground?

Re: Larkhall Athletic
They were champions last year but were refused promotion because their ground didn't make the grading.

I believe allot of clubs in the current economic climate will think long and hard before they apply to make this step up.

I think that it's not just the ground that's the problem although it is not good enough for the Southern League, it's the access. The ground is at the top of a narrow lane which the locals seem to use as a race track and there's no access for coaches. In fact when we played them earlier this season our team coach had to park about a half a mile away from the ground and everything including the kit box had to be pushed up a steep incline. The ground seems to have a series of bus shelters for cover with the odd seat here and there. They are doing it on the field but the investment needed to upgrade the situation is, in my opinion, prohibitive.

Today Larkhall entertain Sherborne Town, will be interesting to see how they get on after their shock defeat last week. Willand Rovers travel to Longwell Green another fixture that will be of interest to Martyrs fans.
