Interesting comments re the Match of The Day with the  wedding on at  Webley's  and a game being played  on the pitch as well!
Comments  made re chaos in the Romans Bar while getting served at the interval!  I suppose the wedding income outweighed any inconvenience. Some people who normally stay for a drink  after the game went straight home, however.
One spectator, possibly new to the ground, paid at the turnstiles and then asked where the bar was. But he  was told he had missed it as he was already in the ground. He did give a grunt. He was told there was a can bar. If you pay at the turnstiles, you  can then access the Webley's  Bar from the grandstand but not Romans!
There was a story, perhaps apocryphal,  after a home game with Cheltenham years ago when there was a wedding buffet at Strikers, and a Cheltenham reporter went into the  hall, eating some of the food as he thought it was for everyone!  That  tale used to be repeated in the Cheltenham match day programme every time Merthyr  played at Whaddon Road! Not  really sure if it was true.  think it was a Derek Goddard tale .He was a sports reporter on the  Glos Evening Echo and had an odd sense of humour!! He even sold me one of his books of his collected humorous columns from the newspaper when we were in the Cheltenham press box.
Anyway, a good podcast to listen to, and an evaluation of pre-season, hopes, and the opening match. The more publicity the better, to boost the interest.
