The game began at a fast pace. Frazer Thomas tested former Martyrs goalkeeper Alex Harris.
Merthyr Fuller, Ryanp-Phillips, Yakubu, Angel (c) Handley, John, J Evans, Thomas, Rees, Powell, Sama. Subs Cogman, Lewis, Duncan, Jemmett-Hutson.
Ricardo Rees had a chance to give Merthyr the lead just before the break but failed to find the net after Harris had done well to save from Lewis Powell
HT 0-0.
Lewis Powell gives Martyrs the lead on 47 minutes following good work by Handley

Fraser Off
Fraser Thomas off.
His engine needs cooling after a great shift by the sound of it.

Re: Cirencester v Merthyr
That's £3375 in the coffers for tonight's win and another £5625 if we beat Gloucester in the next round. £1875 if we lose.

Cirencester v Merthyr
Merhyr will assess their situation on Thursday night in training after several players picked up injuries at Crencester. There had been doubs beforehand whether Alex John was fit but he played and proved that he was, as well as scoring a great goal, the Merthyr boss said afterwards.
Chesham will be a tough league game on Saturday followed by a home encounter with newly-promoted Winchester next Tuesday and then the Cup clash at Gloucester on Oct 1.

Cirencester v Merthyr
Cirencester Town 1 - 2 Merthyr Town
The Emirates FA Cup - Second Round Qualifying Replay at The Corinium Stadium provided another fast paced, entertaining match between the sides and after a goal-less first half Merthyr made the breakthrough a minute after the interval, adding a second mid-way through the second period. Cirencester reduced the arrears from the Penalty Spot in the 90th minute to add a little more tension to the final few minutes.
REPORT ON CIRENCESTER WEBSITE.
The game started at a frantic pace and continued throughout the first period but it remained goal-less despite numerous balls into both Penalty Areas.
Within a minute of the re-start LEWIS POWELL scored for Merthyr as he collected a clearance kick and tucked his shot inside the right post.
Cirencester responded positively but at the mid-point conceded again when ALEX JOHN smashed the ball into the back of the net after a couple of other efforts had been blocked.
The home side continued to push forward and on the 90-minute mark JAKE LEE converted a Penalty Kick to add more drama to ‘added-time’ but it was not to be and Merthyr Town will take on Gloucester City in the next round of the competition.

Re: Cirencester v Merthyr
Evenly matched first half. Showed our class in the second - albeit against an enthusiastic and skilful home side. Ref abysmal! Never a penalty.
