Re: Penydarren appeal
Representatives from Merthyr Town Football club today met with FA Appeal Panel and Western League officials to appeal decision made by Western League not to allow Merthyr to return to Penydarren Park during 2010/11 season.
After listening to representation from both sides the FA determined that the Western League had followed the correct process in reaching its decision, and rejected Merthyr's appeal.
The appeal panel congratulated the club and its fans on keeping football alive in Merthyr. Merthyr were also given until 1st May to advise FA and League where it will be playing football next season.

Re: Penydarren appeal
Disappointing, but I'd suggest not entirely unexpected. Any reason given?

A bit ironic considering the football is being played in Taffs Well.
Still, we originally expected to be at Taffs Well all season, so we just have to get on with it.

Re: Penydarren appeal
Presumably from the words "had followed the correct process in reaching its decision", the appeal was limited to a review of the mechanics used to reach the decision rather than a re-hearing.
That would probably mean that the appeal tribunal would have had some difficulty in overturning the decision unless they could find that the original body hadn't applied the rules properly. It wouldn't allow them to overturn the decision on the basis that it the original decision was unfair, biased, daft etc.
Are the decision and the reasons for the decision posted somewhere on a website? It might make an interesting read.

Re: Penydarren appeal
We are where we are and as The Imp says we have to get on with it at Taffs Well. We are lucky that they could accommodate us at the start of the season and as we started out thinking we'd be there for the whole season nothing has really changed.
It's unfortunate that our hopes were raised of a quick return to PP and maybe we were getting ahead of ourselves a little bit. The fact that both the Western League and the FA have chosen to ignore the comfort of the elderly and the disabled is also unfortunate and I suppose it just goes to show that "the blazers" give no thought for the fans who support clubs and are just in it for their own ends and take pleasure in stopping clubs bettering themselves - unless of course they are they are the chosen few who are allowed to stay in a league whilst not having the facilities to justify it.
Rant over and what we need to do now is to continue to get behind and support the lads to move forward on the pitch even if we aren't allowed to do so off it.
