Re: 2017-2018 squad
Miles John has previously played for Bristol City U12-U18 and has also played for the Wales U16 to U18 set ups. The attacking midfielder has also played for Napier City Rovers in New Zealand, Bath City and Chippenham.
Defender Lewis Baldwin has signed for Merthyr on the back of successful pre-season. Lewis has had a successful period at Cardiff City's Academy and will be a welcome addition to our squad.

Re: 2017-2018 squad
Miles John played for a lot of last season with Cinderford Town - right back or midfield. Fromn what I remember of monitoring their fans forum he was quite highly rated by their supporters. This is what appeared on their forum about him when he joined Cinderford last September:
MILES JOHN
born: 19-1-1995
previous clubs: Bristol City ¦ Port Talbot Town ¦ Napier City Rovers ¦ Canterbury United ,Bath City ,Chippenham Town
Attacking midfielder and right hand side defender ,Miles joined Bath city in October 2015 after returning to the UK from New Zealand. He began his career as a trainee with Bristol City, where he was capped by Wales at under-16, under-17 and under-18 level, before joining Port Talbot Town in July 2013. After a season with the Welsh side he headed to New Zealand where he played for Napier City Rovers and Canterbury United.

Re: 2017-2018 squad
Heard couple of division 2 teams are after him. And hereford united. Gutted!! That sort of young local talent is our future. To take us up the leagues! Merthyr didn't do enough what I can see! I was looking forward to watching him tomorrow. After last week ! He would have frightened hitching bk 4 with that pace and ability

Agree with you there Scamp, unfortunately we don't seem to hold on to the promising players sign of the times I suppose.

Dissapointing Squad
Disappointed with the squad. Two players who stood out last week, Jordan Islip and Macauley Southam. Neither have been signed. Players who have been re-signed are not good enough for this league!

Re: 2017-2018 squad
we got no proper cover for our front 3 players. We get a local talent kid at age of 19 wants to play for Merthyr town fc. Which swansea city fc thought highly of what I heard ..he was never released bye jacks just personal reasons made him leave youth team.and He made fleetwood look like a old man last week with is pace up front and scoring. And ain't in squad. Next managers meeting I be there if we don't win games

Re: 2017-2018 squad
There is a difference between a question and a assumption, I agree some of the players are not what we need
but let's not get into doubting the manger before we even start the season, as stated can't see Gav leaving a quality
player go

Re: 2017-2018 squad
Great that we have Ollie back between the sticks but I couldn't see a back up keeper named in the squad..I know we only run with Ollie last yr but it is a risk in my book..Unless Gav is using the 19s keeper again as he did toward the end of last season....
Anyway good luck to the squad & management lets go one better than last yr
