XBMC/Kodi Media Centre
I've just created a Martyrs TV plugin for xbmc/kodi media centre. So if you have one of those Web Tv box thingamejigs then you can get the add-on from this link here.
http://www.mediafire.com/download/om16k8eact11mqm/MartyrsTV.tar.gz
Just unzip this lot and copy the directory and files to your add-on folder for all your Martyrs action.
I also have one for vintage gameshows for those who would like to watch a bit of Bullseye, Crosswits or 3-2-1.

Feel free to distribute file as you see fit. Oh and if there is anyone who can host a copy for others to download then that would be appreciated. The mediafire link there expires after a while.

I'm not sure I understand a word of the above! It's all a bit too much for an Old Sod!

Re: XBMC/Kodi Media Centre
For those not in the know: xbmc is the software used in the those android boxes you can buy. They are sort of like freeview boxes but stream through the internet. Anyhow, I know a couple of people who read this forum happen to have these so they may find it useful. It is also cool to see Martyrs TV alongside ITV and so on.
They sort of look like this:

I knew a bloke once who used to use an Amiga to access the internet. It was very slow. Pages would take an eterniity to build. Anyhow. Should be theoretically possible on the Speccy hehe. Oh incidentally, XBMC has full emulator support. You can install it on pc to try out and it would probably be right up up your street. To get an idea of all this is: think freeview box. Its software that does that sort of thing. So mine is set up with tv, (uk freeview channels), radio, a few international TV stations, a movie quiz, video jukebox, classic movies. and Snes, Megadrive and Mame emulation. Additional addons I have created add UK Gameshows, At The Races , Racing UK, and, now Martyrs TV to stream highlights of Merthyr games from Matt's Martyrs TV channel.
I managed to build an entire system by buying an old pc from ebay for 9 quid (delivery cost more than the pc itself!)
then an rgb and rgb audio cable (about a fiver) from amazon
a snes controller clone for pc and a usb extension lead to reach sofa: 8 quid. Total.
an RC6 remote control (that the ones that used to be used with microsoft vista) and they come in various prices. Mine was 16 quid.
That's it. That's all it costs.
But, if you already have an old PC lying about or when you replace a PC you can use the old one to build a media-centre. Some prefer those streaming boxes you can buy off the net which do pretty much the same thing.
The point of all this is to have a media centre for your TV that you can operate with a remote. A colleague of mine has xbmc set up to stream Polish television after I recommended xbmc to her. Another set a box up for his kids to watch a few cartoon channels. Though some use it for free sports (sky, espn, bt sport), plus streaming live football from all over the world (including every Cardiff game), and watching latest streamed movies. I won't endorse piracy though. But it can do these things.
Now it also has a perfectly legal and legitimate MARTYRS TV add-on too. I may create another at some point to ppull match highlights and video content from across the southern league.

Not the most engrossing topic I must confess
But still, having spent a few hours creating a plugin to allow Martyrs TV to be accessed with one click across a number of platforms and operating systems, including android boxes and xbox, surely thats a good thing? And also then making it available to others, isn't that a good thing too?
Anyhow, the link is there to download, should you ever wish to.

Re: XBMC/Kodi Media Centre
Mountain Ash, I find you incredibly interesting even if no one else here appreciates you
For a start, im a radio ham so I like messing around with anything that can receive radio/tv/satellite signals.
As far as my home entertainment system goes, I have bought a brand spanking new pc, so I wont stream any live football on there because those sites tend to come with the odd virus or two.
With my TV system, I have got a tv in bedroom, tv in living room downstairs, and a tv in my football games room upstairs.
All three have freeview plumbed in, the one in the games room has that NOW TV box which is good because my brother buys the sky sports package day passes and it allows two devices to sign in, meaning he can watch his in his house and I can also access sky sports in mine, using his login details.
Analog TV has died a natural death, and I think satellite tv has a shelf life aswel. I am very interested in all things satellite but I think soon it will be gone are the days of putting up a satellite dish to receive signals because all tv will be via internet broadband. My opinion anyway.
Ok so to get started in what you been trying to describe here, I need a internet tv box and then download xbmc/kodi media centre.
do I need a android box thingy or can I do it on my NOW TV?,
Also what is chromecast? is it related to this?
