Reasons to be cheerful - Part 1
It’s early days as we are not at the end of August yet but there are certain things that auger well for the season –
· We are unbeaten after 5 league games
· If we win our game in hand we’ll go top
· We are the highest goalscorers in our division – in fact in the whole Southern League
· We have only conceded 3 goals with only 2 teams in the SL better than that
· We have the best goal difference in the Southern League
· Our new management team have settled into their roles well
· We have a settled side with only 2 changes being made all season
· We have a strong bench with some players not even getting into the squad
· We have more strength in depth
· 2 of our players are “on loan” to have match practice
· 2 of the players who left after last season have made our squad better
· We have the highest average attendance in our division
· Only 6 clubs – all in the Premier – who have a higher average attendance
· We are still in the FA Cup, FA Trophy & the Word Cup
· We have obtained £1.8m to update Penydarren Park
If anyone can think of anymore you are welcome to add them.

Plenty of positives from OS. Many clubs at our level, and higher, envy Merthyr Town.

reasons to be cheerful
We own our own club
We have a great Trust board
We have a 50/50 sweep paying out over £100 per home game
We have the most entertaining side in non league football
Our chips are the best

Old Sod's match commentary that puts John Motson to shame....the best punctuated forum in non-league cyberspace...the best pint of cold strongbow on a match day in the Candac....supporters that shout at opposing managers 'get back in your box'....a pitch so clean you could eat off it (I already have when I dropped my chips...) ....like the Cinderford game I could go on for hours....Boz

REASONS TO BE CHEERFUL-PART 2
Now that the disappointment of last Saturday begins to subside, probably a good time to remind ourselves how lucky we are to SUPPORT & OWN MERTHYR TOWN FOOTBALL CLUB.
We have a superb Management Team who have exceeded many supporters expectations this season.
We are top of the League & 4 points clear with 11 games to Play.
We have the best goal diff of +60 in our division.
We have only lost 4 games all seasons.
We would all have settled for our League position at the end of Feb when the season started.
We have the best playing surface in our League & don't have to play on cabbage patches every week.
Our bad run of form is over & we are going to beat Swindon tomorrow and go 7 points clear.
We have obtained a £1.8M grant to re-develop PP which when completed will be the envy of many Non-League Clubs.
We have one of the best Stadiums and facilities in the Southern League & that's before the re-development.
We have the best attendance in our division & probably the premier as well.
Our Under 19's are also having a superb season.
We are going to win this League with games to spare.
Just a follow up to OS superb posting earlier this season, i'm sure there are many more reasons that can be added.
Onwards and upwards to Swindon tomorrow.

Thanks for reiterating this.
Also we must remember "form is temporary but class is permanent"!
