Re: TODAYS RESULTS
Don't know if Bridport already know they are going up as Oldland's ground does not meet the standard for the Toolstation Premier?

Maybe not necessarily. Have to wait and see. I've copied below what someone who went to Oldland's match on Friday has to say on the following forum:

Today's Results
From what I understand Oldland have already been told they cannot go up due to no floodlights. It is also my understanding that if they finish 2nd it will save the team who finishes 2nd from bottom in the Toolstation Premier.. But knowing this league anything can happen

Re: TODAYS RESULTS
Whoever wrote the latest match report on Oldland's website thinks they can be promoted:-
http://www.oldlandfootball.com/74034/club_news.pl?news=521845
And so does the person who wrote the report on Bridport's latest match on their website - 'Today's results mean that Bridport need to win at Champions Merthyr on Saturday to have any chance of being promoted. Even then Oldland would win promotion by gaining two points in their last two games as they have a superior goal difference':-
http://www.webteams.co.uk/MatchReport.aspx?team=bridportfc&mid=match65.xml
This newspaper report thinks so too - '... if the Bees fail to beat champions Merthyr Town this Saturday, Oldland will be promoted irrespective of their fortunes because of their superior goal difference. ':-
http://www.thisishampshire.net/sport/hampshiresport/8992876.Bees__derby_disaster/
But I seem to remember earlier in the season when Devizes were on their long unbeaten run and moving towards the top of the table, that I read something where their manager was saying they were aiming at a top three spot as Oldland would not be allowed to go up.
It all seems very unclear at the moment. It would be better for everyone's sake going into Saturday's matches if there was some definite information - preferably coming from the Western League. There's no mention of anything in their latest weekly bulletin.

I agree - the league should make it crystal clear what the outcome will be. It's only fair to the 2 clubs involved.

Re: TODAYS RESULTS
Oldland play their last game at home to Elmore next Monday afternoon when everyone else has finished - apart from one other game in the division to be fitted in that day - Roman Glass v Shepton Mallet.
Six teams in the division have already finished their league programmes - on Easter Monday, so it's all a bit uneven.

TODAY'S RESULTS
On 1st April it was reported on
nonleaguematters.co.uk that Oldland Abbotonians will have floodlights next season
See 'Restructuring' - Step 6 non floodlighters
So I guess promotion is not a problem

Far be it from me to say anything to defend the FU, sorry, FA; however suspect we are viewing this through the "professional" eyes of the Southern League...

Re: TODAYS RESULTS
Some more news from the Bridport FC and Dorset Echo websites:
'No decision will be taken by the league until all the games are played'
http://www.webteams.co.uk/NewsItems.aspx?team=bridportfc
http://www.dorsetecho.co.uk/sport/9000036.No_pressure_as_Bees_face_Merthyr_crunch/
There seems to be something more definite from the Oldland area:
'League officials want a written undertaking from the club that they will upgrade their ground to the requisite specifications by June 7, the week before the league's annual meeting.'
http://www.thisisbristol.co.uk/football/Oldland-final-bid-nail-second-position/article-3501566-detail/article.html
