Comment from Swindon's Twitter:
'Felt we didn't play bad, more like Sholing were good, especially in front of goal!'
Swindon now have only one game in hand over us, but still 4 points in front.

As it stands believe we need 10points from our last six games to guarantee a play off spot.

re tonight's game
Mattmartyr is right though. There's no point getting excited about other teams dropping points if we go out and do the same thing. If the team keep focused on winning their games we will reach the playoffs. If other teams drop points to our advantage that helps but we've got to win our games first and foremost. I'm optimistic and am looking forward to the playoffs, wherever I have to travel to watch the 2 games.

I tried working it out yesterday and could be wrong, but this is what I make it:-
It's complicated by us playing Yate in the last game. Three alternatives, depending on the result in that match:-
1. If we lose to Yate then we need 80 points - so 11 more points from the other 5 games and it wouldn't matter if we lost to Yate.
2. If we draw with Yate then we need 78 points - meaning 9 points from 6 games, including against Yate.
3. If we were to beat Yate then we would need 77 points - 8 from 6 games, including Yate.
That's without taking into account our much superior goal difference over Yate and Paulton.
Yate can get 79 points if they win all their games including beating us, so they're the main rivals. Paulton can get 82, and they don't have to play any of the others.
But, like I say, I'm open to correction.

Re: Tonight's Game
Although we have come unstuck in some home games, we should be looking to win all three remaining matches at PP, and Abingdon away should be productive, on our present form.
The toughest encounters will be at Cirencester and Yate. But we don't really want to go into that last game at Yate in need of a point or three.
So, if we apparently need 11 more points at the most (allowing for us to lose to Yate), three home victories and a win at Abingdon will be more than enough. It looks easy saying that, I suppose. But anything can happen. Of course, if we can get something at Cirencester, it will do our cause a great deal of good. Then 8 points would be the target from four matches, allowing for possible defeat in Yate.

And of course this is based on Paulton and Yate winning all their remaining games, so if they don't the figures can be revised downwards as they say.

Quite; it would be a lot for Paulton and Yate to win all their games.

The Citizen
SHORTWOOD United's bid to finish as Gloucestershire's top dogs in the Southern League will receive something of an acid test in the next four days.
Wood face a rare league double-header with home and away clashes with play-off contenders Swindon Supermarine, starting with tomorrow's trip to the Webbs Wood Stadium.
With the return at Meadowbank on Tuesday night, Wood boss John Evans knows that a positive result or two would work wonders in Wood's bid to earn a top-seven spot in Division One South and West.
And if Wood do that, they will more than likely finish as Gloucestershire's top team in the division, a significant achievement in their first season since promotion from the Hellenic League.
"If you had offered me this position at the start of the season I would have bitten your hand off," Evans said. "I can't fault the lads' efforts this year, they've been terrific to come back after a slightly sticky start. The fellas have been brilliant to finish in the upper part of mid-table and we just want to finish the season as well as we can now. We have five games left and we will be looking to get as many points as we can, but we have two very tough games against Supermarine, who are bidding to get into the play-offs. We've got a weary group and we're down to the bare bones a bit and I gave them all a week off training this week."
