I know there doin well but it just dont feel the same there anymore. That is why i fancy attending some merthyr games to see what its like. Can you give me some club/player info ect. Hi
You'll be very welcome. Most details are on the Official Website:-
http://www.pitchero.com/clubs/merthyrtown
Admission for an adult is £8 - pay at the turnstile.
The match programme is excellent value at only £1.50 and is not to be missed.
Cooked food is available at the Penalty Spot cafe on the ground, and liquid refreshment in the Candac Suite inside the main stand.

And there are other Merthyr fans from Mountain Ash. Aberdare and Hirwaun so come along and boost the crowd and cheer The Martyrs on in their bid for a third successive promotion.
I see Cardiff lost tonight!!! OOPS!

Cheers guys :-). Looking forward to it now. Managed to convince a mate to come as well. Its a shame most of your fixtures clash with cardiff. Think Merthyr would get bigger gates if they didnt. What you think??

Re: new mtfc fan
No doubt there are fans who support cardiff who used to support us but i am not sure they are flocking in large numbers perhaps more so from outside the area.I also know fans who are supporting swansea from merthyr who probably if i dare say so are a bigger attraction than cardiff at the moment and driving to swansea is a lot easier than cardiff. However the success of football clubs run in cycles and the fans will support them depending on their success particularly from merthyr because of the distance involved and the ego of supporting a winning team in the premier or championship

Yea you are right. Tbh mate i have supported ccfc my whole life. But ive always taken an interest in every welsh team. Ive been to penydarren park a few times al be it was ccfc v mtfc friendly games. But all this rebrand crap down cardiff coupled with a pretty dire atmosphere has made me qurious to what it would be like to see a few of your games. I guess mtfc would be classed more of my local team than cardiff being from mountain ash lol.

To give you a flavour of what matches are like, there are lots of well-presented video highlights of previous home games this season:-

Re: new mtfc fan
I would estimate that there are 40 or more fans at Merthyr games who live outside the borough. They include people from Bristol, Swansea,Carmarthen, France (when the person concerned is back in town), Pontypool, Caerphilly,Rhondda, Tredegar, Rhymney, Reading etc. These turn up and must spend quite a bit all round while some locals moan and say £8 is too much!
If anyone is going to help boost the gates this season, we only basically have March and April to go but there are EIGHT home matches left, so let's make Penydarren Park a vibrant place and show some appreciation for the management, players and the board who strive to keep football going here.
These are local people whereas Football League clubs are run by the wealthy men from here, there and everywhere, who tend to disappear after a while....
We are in it for the Long Ride!

Re: new mtfc fan
Sorry for leaving some places out! I did say "etc." I could have gone places if I had been good at Geography.
With all these fans from outside Merthyr, I wonder how many we have from within Merthyr!!!

I think we must have more "exiled" supporters than the Town has itself!!

Re: new mtfc fan
Yes, it is amazing and these "exiles" have to pay far more than just the £8 admission to see their team play. I forgot to mention one supporter travels from Mold!!

Looks like mtfc have a good following/interst. Considering that you play in the lower leagues. really cant wait to sample the penydarren park atmos in March now.
