Highlights of 2012
The lightening quick feet of Garry Shephard as he ghosted past defenders near the by-line, before pulling the ball back to Ryan Prosser to score the only goal of the game from two-yards against Ilfracombe to secure the Western League title and with it promotion back to the Southern League.

Bristol Manor Farm Away Easter Monday.
A 5-3 win, 90 Minutes of Singing in the Stand plus a rendition of " Singing in The Rain " on stage by Mr Evans, quality Easter Monday.

Outclassing what were at the time our main promotion rivals Hallen by 4-1 on Good Friday in front of what was officially a crowd of 705 but seemed a lot more.

Prosser's goal in Brislington for a hard earned 1-0 win.

The opening day of the season - our visit to Swindon Supermarine - and our return to the Southern League after a two year absence.Tim Drummond wrote:There don't seem to be many highlights then from this season!!!
Warm sunshine, a two goal advantage, playing some great stuff before conceding two late goals.
It was both an emotional and a really proud day.
The Martyrs are Back!!

Yes Swindon Supermarine for me BRILLIANT and it only took two seasons to get back to the Southern League.

I'll have to agree with Jamie. Prosser's goal against Bitton was the highlight for me. In my opinion that was the match which really set us up for the title.

Re: Highlights of 2012
The whole performance on a glorious night at Bitton, upwards of 100 Martyrs there and we totally outclassed them, really set us up for the title! As for this season, the Swindon game is an highlight just for the sheer pride of seeing our club back where we belong, also, not forgetting, the 3-2 win at Bishops Cleeve after a mad last 5 minutes!

That game was played 25 October 2011 so not in 2012.

Aye, but it all merges into one! All right then, the whole game against Hungerford a few weeks ago where we were brilliant throughout with Preeny's goal being the best of the bunch.

Re: Highlights of 2012
Now we need some quality performances at Penydarren Park. Only a certain number regularly attend away games.
There are lots of fixtures to come, home and away. So let's hope for a good 2013 with the supporters getting behind the players at PP, leading to plenty of highlights when we look back at the end of the season.
The WET weather has caused problems everywhere. Poor Tiverton have seen not only the pitch but their boardroom, changing rooms etc flooded.
Also I note that Jimmy Knox, a former Rugby Town, Leamington and VS Rugby boss has died, aged 77. His side pipped The Martyrs for promotion to the Premier Division of the SL one year when Lyn Jones was Merthyr manager.

I don't attend as many games as all you, but amazingly I was at ALL of those games mentioned so far!
For me it's that late, late winner at Bishops Cleeve in the rain, Oh and I won a bottle of wine in the raffle, brilliant day!
